The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) will no longer use the Personal Identification Number (PIN) system. It has been replaced with the new FSA ID, which is comprised of a user-selected username and password. This is an effort to make sure that your information stays secure. It will take about 7 minutes to complete the registration process. Parents and students who have submitted the FAFSA in the past, can register for a PIN now so everything is in place next winter for the 2016 FAFSA .
Here is a 6 step list of what you need to do to create your new FSA PIN and here is the federal student aid page where you create your new PIN. This has been a long awaited upgrade to the system. Let me know if you have any questions.
