College Commencement Speakers for the Class of 2013

DSCN6681It's always fun (to me at least!) to find out who will be speaking at college graduations. As we enter spring 2013, colleges and universities have begun sharing who they will feature at this year's graduation ceremonies.

As I note who will be speaking at which school, I can't help but wonder what the choice of the speaker has to say about the personality of the college. Dartmouth welcomed Conan O'Brien in 2011. That seems fitting to me. In 2009, Tulane hosted Ellen DeGeneres. This year, Tulane has His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Spiritual Leader of Tibet speaking. Okay, I can't make any connection there...but Harvard always has a superstar speaker and isn't disappointing this year with its choice of Oprah. President Obama will be busy this graduation season as he graces the stage of three commencement exercises- Ohio State University, Morehouse, and the U.S. Naval Academy.
